About PACE

People’s Alliance for Clean Energy (PACE) is a locally-based, regionally-focused non-profit organization promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly energy for Central Virginia. PACE endorses and promotes conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy as central to a program to help the economy grow, to make America safer, and to protect the environment.

PACE was formed in 2002 following Dominion’s proposal to build two more nuclear power plants at Lake Anna in Louisa County. With the support of and in coordination with Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League (BREDL), Sierra Club, Public Citizen, and others, PACE has intervened in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s processes as well as local and state venues to promote clean, safe, and economical alternatives to the massively toxic and expensive nukes.
